These are four of the amazing dogs with whom I've shared my life. That's me and Murphy enjoying the river walk in our town. He had a long career as a therapy dog, my demo dog and assistant trainer. My boy passed away on Sept. 5, 2017 at the age of 12, peacefully at home. My new girl, Fig, has already earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certification and passed her therapy dog handling test. Whenever I have speaking engagements, Fig joins me. Cody, my yellow Lab, passed away on March 30, 2015 at the age of 13. She was my wilderness search and rescue dog. She taught me scent theory ... in woods and fields and on the water. She also taught me to pay attention. She never did anything that didn't mean something. I had to figure out what each and every move of her head or twitch of her tail meant. I miss you, my beautiful girl. And finally there's my Maxx. He passed away in 2005 but he is still with me every day. He taught me that I am trainable. And what true love is.
